Once you get to South Africa - either via Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban - a very easy way to get to other South African cities is using domestic flights. Enter your destination city in South Africa + "flights", to find flights to the city:
Domestic flights are numerous and connect most of the major towns and cities, and some of the smaller ones, with fares ranging from first-class to cut-price economy. Flights can be booked online from anywhere in the world. By far the biggest airline offering domestic flights is South African Airways with its two associates SA Airlink and SA Express. There are a number of other smaller airlines of which the most significant are British Airways/Comair and its budget subsidiary Kulula.com, the first low cost airline in South Africa. Other low cost airlines include 1 Time, and FlyMango.com backed up by South Africa Airways. Furthermore there are a number of smaller charter airline companies. Low cost airlines are of course cheap, and the service will be at low levels, but they are generally reliable. The major airlines also offer discount fares if you search in advance. Subject to availability, you may expect discounts of up to fifty percent for booking at least 3 weeks ahead. During the summer break - mid December to end January - the domestic flights tend to get really crowded, so for this reason booking in advance is advisable.
